The Israeli singer Edna Prochnik established herself as a very fine interpreter of the german repertory. She sang very succesfully all the main mezzo roles : Kundry in Parsifal and the roles in Wagners Ringcycle : Fricka, Waltraute, Norn, Erda, Schwertleite, in the praised direction of Achim Freyer at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (captured on DVD by Arthaus Musik / conducted by Dan Ettinger).
This season Edna will be heard in one of her favourite roles : Klytämnestra/Elektra in a new production of Staatstheater Braunschweig in spring 2018. She will be taking on Erda in a new ringcycle of Staatstheater Kassel in the beginning of season18/19 followed by a concert series in Japan with « Wagner Wesendonck Lieder » (Tokyo Symphony Orchestra /Dan Ettinger) in october 2018. Edna will also be back to the New Israeli Opera singing Herodias in spring 2019.
In addition she sang the main leading roles of the French and Italian repertoire: Amneris-Aida which was hailed by "Opera Magazine" as "most impressive-with a rich mezzo timbre", Eboli-Don Carlos, Mrs. Quickly-Falstaff, Ulrica-Un Ballo in Maschera, Carmen-Bizet, Santuzza-Cavaleria Rusticana and Suzuki-Madame Butterfly.
She sang in Opera Houses such as Opera Bastille, New Israeli Opera, New National Theater Tokyo, Palm Beach Opera, Staatstheaters Nürnberg, Karlsruhe, Wiesbaden, Salzburger Landestheater, as well as renowned Festivals like Bregenzer Festspiele, Bergen Opera Festival-Norway and the St. Margarethen Opera Festival-Austria.
Edna has collaborated with stage directors like Achim Freyer, David Alden, Christof Nel, Harry Kupfer, Gabriele Rech, Jens Daniel Herzog, Franz Hilbrich, Tilman Knabe, Christoph Zauner, Robert Herzl.
On the concert platform Edna Prochnik has been working with renowned musicians such as Kurt Mazur, Wolfgang Sawallisch, John Nelson, Marek Janovski, Dan Ettinger, Frederic Chaslin, Gari Bertini, Asher Fisch, David Stern, Philippe Entremont, Noam Sheriff, Jiri Kout, Mendi Rodan and Harry Bicket.
